John McCauley
graduated with honors from Harvard Law School in 1980, and has practice
full time as a business, employment, and real estate litigator since
that time, both as a partner in a large Los Angeles based law firm
(Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker), and (later) as a principal
in a small Orange County based law firm which he founded. He has also
served as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School, teaching courses
on appellate advocacy and on mediation and arbitration. He is an AV
rated attorney who is also listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register
of Pre-eminent Lawyers.
Mediation has been a major focus of Mr. McCauley's practice for
more than four years. He obtained both basic and
advanced training as a mediator from the Institute
for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine
Law School. He is a Fellow of the International
Academy of Mediators. He is a court-affiliated mediator
for the Los Angeles, Orange County
and Santa Barbara Superior
Courts. He is a State Bar Certified Provider of continuing
legal education on the subject of mediation, and a
frequent speaker on the topics of effective advocacy
in mediation and the design of
alternative dispute resolution systems. In addition
to his work as a mediator, Mr. McCauley also serves
as an arbitrator for the
American Arbitration Association.
