Judith Rubenstein began her mediation practice in 1985 when lawyer-mediators in the United States were rare. She has practiced in Southern California since 1990. Her background in both law and psychology gives her a unique ability to work from both the legal and human dynamic perspectives. Judith has resolved thousands of complex disputes – including probate, real estate, employment, business, and tort matters. Judith’s strengths include her ability to absorb, analyze and distill complex matters, to deal with difficult parties and to resolve emotionally-charged disputes. Judith has resolved well over 90% of the cases she has mediated as a result of her quiet tenacity and creative uses of the process. Ms. Rubenstein is also known widely as a trainer in mediation and negotiation skills. She is the director of Conflict Management Institute of Santa Barbara, which has certified new mediators since1990, and has been an adjunct professor at UCSB in Dispute Resolution since the early 90’s.
