Robert L. Westin, CPCU draws from his reservoir of experience accumulated over 46 years as an insurance executive, management consultant, expert witness, mediator and entrepreneur to help disputants resolve their conflicts.

In addition to the overall supervision of the claims departments of two insurance companies and a major insurance brokerage, Bob has served as an insurance expert witness in over 165 cases. He has mediated over 85 disputes and negotiated numerous buy/sell, employment and other types of agreements. His involvement in the settlement of hundreds of claim disputes and contract negotiations has exposed him to the personal vagaries of scores of claims adjusters, lawyers, claimants and business people and a plethora of negotiating styles. As a result, Bob has acquired the exceptional ability to help disparate parties clear the static from their lines of communication and engage in a productive exchange of perspectives.

Bob brings his own style to the mediation process formulated from a blend of the training he has received and the mediations he has conducted. He has completed over one hundred hours of training for which continuing legal education credits are authorized including courses provided by the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Services, American Arbitration Association's Center for Mediation, Council of Better Business Bureaus, Southern California Mediation Association, Santa Barbara Community Mediation Program and Santa Barbara Superior Courts’ CADRe Program.

Bob is currently a member of Santa Barbara County CADRe Mediators’ Panel and the California Department of Insurance Earthquake Claims Mediation Panel. He has served as a member of the American Arbitration Association's Insurance ADR panel, Certified Mediator Dispute Resolution Service's community mediation panel, Ventura County Superior and Municipal Courts' panel, Los Angeles County Superior Court's panel, and Santa Barbara Community Mediation's Restorative Justice panel. In addition he has served as a Race Relations Facilitator for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Race Relations Days.

• Graduated University of Denver, December 1955. Awarded Bachelor of Science Degree, Business Administration, Insurance Major.
• Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters designation awarded 1960

1983 - Present: Owner and President of Victus, Inc., a management, mediation, and expert witness consulting company specializing in insurance and insurance related activities.

1978 - 1983:  President, Physicians and Surgeons Underwriters Corporation which served as Attorney-in-fact for Physicians and Surgeons Insurance Exchange of California. Served as director of the AIF and as a member of the Exchange's governing board, and as its Vice-Chairman and as President.

1965 - 1978:  Senior Vice-President of Administration, Penn General Agencies, Inc., now known as Acordia Insurance Brokers, Inc. Association with PGA commenced as General Manager of Wolf-Eisner-Brown, a small general insurance brokerage. WEB was sold to Pennsylvania Life Insurance Company and renamed, Penn General Agencies of California. Served as Vice-President, and then President of PGA of California.

1956 - 1965:  General Manager, Los Angeles Branch, Home Insurance Company of New York at time of resignation. Started with Home as a trainee in the company's Denver office. Promoted to Special Agent, and Marine Supervisor while in Denver. Transferred to Los Angeles in May, 1962 as Assistant General Manager.
